This morning I bid farewell to Sue of the Windsor Guest House in Saltburn and walked another 20 miles more or less. It would have been slightly fewer but I got lost in Middlesborough and added a few unnecessary miles.
It rained almost all day which made the walk not much fun and most of the time I couldn’t find shelter from the rain when I wanted to rest. It was also incredibly cold considering this is the second day of (hah!) Summer.
Much of the walk was spent trying to get through Middlesborough. Middlesborough on a cold, wet day can be pretty grim.
But I finally crossed the River Tees into, I believe, the county of Durham. Then on to Stockton on Tees where I am staying tonight in the excellent Kingswood Guest House on Norton Road. This is a comfortable and very smart B and B with a friendly atmosphere and I was given a very warm welcome and a smashing cup of tea by my hostess Karen whom I sincerely thank for her generous donation. I was given a very nice single room and a VERY comfortable bed that I intend to put to very good use.
Tomorrow I head for Seaton Carew.
